CDC Evolve spelt

A cross between CDC Zorba and CDC Origin, CDC Evolve spring spelt is awnless with reddish-brown glumes and hollow stems. Based on 30 site-years of data from the Private Spring Wheat Test, CDC Evolve was 23%, 9%, 6% and 10% higher yielding (hull on basis) than CDC Nexon, CDC Zorba, CDC Origin and CDC Silex, respectively. CDC Evolve is suited to wheat growing areas with longer crop seasons, such as Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Main Strengths:

  • High yield coupled with earlier maturity
  • Shorter straw than the check varieties
  • Less lodging than check varieties
